I am a postdoctoral researcher at University of Oulu in the Interact research group. My background is in information security, and I am interested in all things Internet. So I did my PhD (2017) in University of Oulu, focusing on adolescent online safety. I am mainly a qualitative researcher, always digging a little deeper whether I am doing my research using the treasure trove that is the internet, or with real life humans. After my PhD I have continued to deepen my understanding in participatory design, and gotten interested in the themes of empowerment and activism through technology design: I jumped into the awesomeness that is FabAcademy, and have been involved in multiple research projects concerning digital fabrication and making with children, teens and young adults.
On my freetime I am a Vans enthusiast and T-shirt aficionado. I mostly hang out with my cats, stream B-quality TV shows, and think about taking up sports before it is too late. I also enjoy fiddling with my phone, laughing at Skeletor memes, and trying to keep up with the ever changing social media scene. I am also a proud owner of several pairs expensive boots, and of a pinterest board of awesome tinkering projects for the FabLab I don’t have time to tinker with.
